Trust & Security
Updated 2026-05-07
Project College is operated by Digent LLC, a Florida limited liability company. This page summarizes how we handle your data, your payments, your student's privacy, and our security practices. The full legal terms are in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
- We do not share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not buy personal information from data brokers.
- We do not authorize AI providers to train their models on your data.
- We do not run third-party advertising on the Services.
- We do not target advertising to a student.
- We do not transmit your match scores, comparisons, or chancing outputs to any college.
- We do not see, store, or process raw card numbers, CVV, or full bank-account numbers.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Digent LLC is the merchant of record. Card data never touches our servers.
AI providers
The current list of AI providers we use in production is at /ai-providers. We update that page within 30 days of any addition or removal.
Security
- TLS for data in transit
- Memory-hard password hashing (Argon2 or bcrypt)
- AES-256-GCM encryption at rest for sensitive fields (Tax-IDs, Stripe Connect IDs — used only by the future Survey Program)
- Application-layer authorization on every multi-tenant data access
- Row-level access controls on parent and student data
- Periodic review of access privileges
- Segregation of production and non-production environments
To report a suspected security incident: [email protected]. We will notify affected users of any incident as required by applicable law and in any event within 45 days of confirmation, unless a law-enforcement agency requests a longer delay.
Student privacy
The Services are intended for adult parents and guardians and high-school students aged 13+ under a parent's account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. The student profile we collect contains first name, grade level, GPA, test scores, AP scores, intended major, interests, and target schools — never last name, photograph, phone number, home address (other than the parent's billing address), Social Security Number, biometric identifier, or precise geolocation.
Student data laws
Project College is a consumer-facing service purchased by a parent, not a service provided to a school. FERPA applies only to schools, not to consumer relationships. We comply with consumer-facing operator obligations under California SOPIPA, NY Ed. Law § 2-d, IL SOPPA, and analogous state laws — we do not target advertising to students, do not amass non-Service profiles, and do not sell student information.
DMCA & copyright
We are registered with the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory (file DMCA-1072409, Active). Full notice instructions and our repeat-infringer policy are at /dmca.
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy of your information by emailing [email protected]. We respond within 45 days. Full rights and state-specific disclosures are in our Privacy Policy §§ 10–11.
Accessibility
We work toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. If you encounter a barrier, email [email protected] and we will respond within ten (10) business days.
Service Geography
The Services are intended for users in the United States. We do not direct the Services to data subjects in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and will not knowingly enroll an EEA or UK resident; users with EEA/UK billing addresses are blocked at checkout.
